The Local History and Genealogy Department at the Coshocton Public Library houses an extensive collection of books, and pamphlet files, and microfilm of local newspapers and probate court records dating to the early 1800s. Limited queries may be submitted online or by mail and will be answered in a timely fashion.

Genealogy Research Guidelines

Use the following guidelines when making your request:
1. Each request must contain one specific question about a specific person at a specific time. Please provide as much detail as possible.
2. Photocopy requests must be for information from a published, indexed source or you must include a specific title and pages. (See sources)
3. Minimum charge for photocopies is $3.00. We will send up to 15 pages of copy for $3.00, thereafter each additional page costs $0.20.
4. Microfilm copies are $3.00 each. No more than five microfilm copies will be provided per request. The library has the capability of emailing PDFs of microfilm. Should you prefer a paper copy you will need to send a (large-enough) stamped and self-addressed envelope.
5. Payment is by means of a check or money order, made out to Coshocton Public Library.
6. The library staff must limit the time devoted to a research request to 20 minutes. You will be asked to contact a researcher if your request requires more time.
