Col. Bouquet’s 1764 Expedition
Bouquet's Peace Treaty

Diplomacy at the Forks of the Muskingum: Col. Henry Bouquet’s 1764 Expedition- 2014 is the 250th anniversary of Col. Henry Bouquet marching with 1,500 militia and British troops from Fort Pitt to what is present-day Coshocton in the fall of 1764. The mission was to engage the Indians and secure the release of more than 200 captives. He did so without combat.

Join us as local historian Ken Smailes explores this historic event. Who was Col. Bouquet? What was the atmosphere like during that era of the French and Indian War? What would it have been like to march from Fort Pitt to Coshocton? What were the expedition encampments like? How were the negotiations and the release of the captives conducted?

Please call the West Lafayette Branch Library at 740-545-6672 to register.
