Remembering the Great War 1914-1918

 

The Johnson Humrickhouse Museum and the Coshocton Public Library invite you to the following programs:

Monday, October 16 at 7:00 pm at Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum

Anthem for Doomed Youth:  WWI Poetry  Jeremy Glazier, Associate Professor of English at Ohio Dominican University, will share the key authors and quintessential themes of the poetry that was written in the grip of the most devastating conflict the world had ever seen.  This is part of a series of programs called Remembering the Great War 1914-1918 planned by the museum and the library.  No need to register for this program.  Cost is $4 for adults; Free for students and JHM members.

Sunday, November 5 at 4:30 pm at Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum

WWI Poster Exhibit Talk  Mike Falk, curator of the museum's WWI poster exhibit, will give a presentation touching upon the artists, printing techniques, need for the posters, and events that occurred during the war.  Cost is $4 for adults; Free for students and JHM members.

Monday, November 6 at 6:30 pm at Coshocton Public Library

Book Discussion of All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque  Considered a classic, the novel tells of the realities of war in hauntingly beautiful prose.  Copies of the book and both of the movies that were inspired by the book are available at the main desk at the library.  Come, even if you have only watched the movie.  You'll enjoy the discussion.
